American Red Cross – Loess Hills Chapter
DAT (Disaster Action Team) Member
Details: The DAT members are volunteers who respond to local disasters such as fires, tornados, or floods. DAT members are dedicated volunteers who are willing to be called out any time of the day to assist families that have been devestated by disaster. Team members are being sought in Crawford, Harrison, Pottawattamie, Mills, Montgomery, Fremont, Shelby and Page Counties. DSHR (Disaster Service s Human Resources) Member
Details: DSHR members are volunteers who wish to respond on a larger scale. Our DSHR members are called out to assist with disasters across the country (including U.S territories such as Puerto Rico and Guam). DSHR members give up weeks of their time to assist with the recovery from disasters such as tornadoes, flooding, earthquakes, and hurricanes. Specific jobs include healthcare personnel, ERV (Emergency Resoponse Vehicle) driver, and help at shelters and mass care. Office Assistant
Details: The Chapter is seeking assistance in the office with clerical activities and answering the phones. The activities will vary daily and will include assisting the different departments in the office. For more information please contact the Chapter at 712.322.4017.
Meals on Wheels Volunteer
Details: Volunteers are needed to deliver hat meals at lunch time from Jennie Edmundson Hospital to the homes of elderly or homebound individuals. This opportunity provides daily contact with those who strive to remain independent in their homes. Please contact Lori Rankin at 712.388.0452 for more information.
Health & Safety instuctors
Details: Become certified to teach CPR, First Aid, HIV/AIDS Awareness, Water Safety and Youth Programs. Classes are taught throughout Pattawattamie and Mills Counties at various times of the week. For more information please contact Jan Grace-Colvin at 712.322.4017.
First Aid Stations
Details: First Aid Stations held at many community events throughout Pottawattamie and Mills Counties need trained volunteers to provide basic first aid care to the public injured during the activities. Current CPR and Standard First Aid certification is required. Please contact Jan Grace-Colvin at 712.322.4017 for more information.
Blood Pressure Screening
Details: Volunteers are needed to work a blood pressure screening table at the Mall of the Bluffs. This table will be set up on Tuesday mornings and volunteers are needed to check blood pressures for individuals in the mall. Training will be provided.
